Jim Johnson's Bio

Jim Johnson was born to Rev. Milton Johnson Jr. and his wife Norma in March of 1965 in Quincy, Massachusetts. He grew up as a pastor’s son in Milton, New Hampshire. He asked Jesus Christ to be his Savior and Lord when he was eight years old. At age thirteen, God called Jim to preach. Jim ran from this call.

In 1984 the Johnson family moved to Palm Bay, Florida and joined First Baptist Palm Bay. In that church when Jim was 19, God reaffirmed His call on Jim’s life. Jim finally surrendered to the call to preach. Following God’s call, Jim served as temporary Youth Pastor at several different local churches in the late 1980’s. One of those churches was First Baptist Church, Indialantic, Florida. There, in 1988, he met his future wife, Becky Moninger.

In December of 1988 Jim graduated from Flagler College with a degree in Physical Education. In fall of the next year he began classes at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. That fall of 1989, Jim and Becky were engaged, and in the summer of 1990 they were married.

While Jim worked on his Master of Divinity degree, he worked part-time at Williams Boulevard Baptist Church in Kenner, Louisiana as an Associate Pastor. There Dr. Buford Easley, the Senior Pastor, trained and mentored Jim. When Jim graduated from seminary in 1992, he was hired as full-time Associate Pastor.

In 1995, Jim answered the call to pastor Brainard Avenue Baptist Church near Chicago in Countryside, Illinois. The Lord was gracious, and over the next five years, Brainard grew from about 75 to over 350 in regular attendance.

Through a series of God-orchestrated events, the Lord made it clear in spring of 2000 that He was calling Jim to go back to First Baptist Indialantic, this time as Senior Pastor. Jim accepted that call and began work there in May 2000. When Jim arrived, approximately 130 people attended on a Sunday. God did many marvelous things at F.B.I.; He added to the staff and membership, many were saved, and the ministry of the Word was renewed in that church. Attendance increased to more than 450. Jim was given the opportunity to begin his own radio program called Challenge for Today on a local station, WCIF Melbourne, in 2003. In addition to the radio program, Jim was preaching about five times a week, at FBI, other churches, homeless shelters, and Baptist Associations.

The Lord began to give Jim a vision for what He was calling Jim into next, and Jim knew it involved preaching to the Church in the End Times. Over time the Lord revealed His plan, and in August of 2005 Jim resigned from being Senior Pastor and surrendered to the call of God to travel and preach. It is his prayer that Justapreacher Ministries will be a tool of God to get His Word out to the Body of Christ in the Last Days.

Jim and Becky have been blessed with three terrific children. Nicole was born in 1994, Elise in 1996 and A.J. in 1998. They are striving to raise them in the training and admonition of the Lord.
